We stayed at the Edinburgh airport Hilton last night since we were flying out this morning and they had a free shuttle to the airport. It was also within walking distance if it hadn't been so cold, windy and raining. It was without a doubt the worst night we've had on this trip. We couldn't stay connected to the Internet, which made blogging nearly impossible. As a matter of fact I was about to give up after calling the front desk and having someone come up and try to figure out the problem. He couldn't make it stay on either. I finally found one little corner of the room where I could stay connected long enough to finish the post. But that wasn't the worst part. The beds were horribly uncomfortable and about 3 o'clock in the morning there was a loud noise. Jo Anne jumped thinking I fell out of the bed. Alas, it was just the start of all sorts of banging that went on the rest of the night (morning). I had the alarm set for six but finally gave up on sleeping and got up at 5:30. We packed up and headed over to the airport for breakfast and our flight to Shannon.
This sign was right behind us when we sat down with our porridge and muffin this morning. I thought it was an appropriate description of our trip.
Here's the little prop we're taking to Shannon.
On the plane waiting for takeoff. We were reprimanded for talking during the preflight safety announcements. Of course no one else was listening either but we were on the front row.
Leaving Edinburgh
The propeller on the plane. Kind of freaky.
Arriving Shannon
Cloud cover and rain
Right before takeoff in the car. Yikes!!! We landed on the worst day of weather they've had this winter. Pouring rain, high winds and even snow, which is rare. I needed something else to worry about besides driving on the left.
Going through the tunnel at Shannon.
Snow and ice on the pass.
View out the window at lunch. The water and sky look the same thru the rain.
My lamb with essence of mint jus and potatoes
Jo Anne's salmon and potatoes. We are in Ireland after all. It's potatoes with everything.
Rain rain and more rain.
Snow on the mountain
And flowers in the valley
Patchwork fields
Town of Dingle

Stairs to climb with our huge bags. The hostess asked us if we were shoppers.
Back to Dingle for dessert and maybe a little shopping.
The wind is blowing like crazy, it's sleeting and so cold
Harrington's restaurant and bar
The marina
Our B&B
In case you missed it the first time, this is the view from our room.
The wind is almost blowing the trees over.
Well look what was tucked in our beds. The minute Jo Anne found that, she couldn't get in bed fast enough. We were freezing from walking in the rain.
Mostly flying and driving today so not many steps.
Stats: 3.55 miles and 8,652 steps
