Day 7 - The Whiskey Loop Walk

We had a beautiful view from our breakfast table this morning. Unfortunately it was raining when we went to bed and raining when we got up.

Our table

My Scottish breakfast of egg, bacon and mushrooms.

The view from our room

This is the town we're staying in and the B&B is at the top of the hill. By mutual consent we decided not to post our start of the walk picture today. Enough said.

Were headed to Dufftown and the Glenfiddich distillery.

I can't begin to describe how incredibly beautiful it is here. The flowing river Fiddich, the sound of birds singing and the smell of pine in the air is simply fantabulous!

Moss on the walls

This was a very interesting fence post.

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." Psalms 119:105
We truly felt His presence on our path today.

We wanted you to experience some of the sounds so hopefully these videos will come through. Just as I started to video, the bird started singing me a song. Jo Anne and I just looked at each other.

Jo Anne up on the trail

I tried to get Jo Anne to let me take her picture on this stone wall but she wasn't having it.

Is this not the most fantastic picnic spot?

Walking to Dufftown

There were little rocks along the trail with carved sayings that were quite unusual

Clock tower at Dufftown

We stopped for lunch at The Stuart Inn. I had a prawn salad.

Jo Anne had carrot soup.

Over 250 whiskeys on display. This is whiskey country!

We just had to stop at this picnic table in the middle of nowhere and have a little break of biscuits (cookies) and water.

Sun shining on the mossy rocks after a pouring rain, just like a rainbow.

Path to the river.

Clover covered rocks made me think of Irish dancers.

We returned to Craigellachie after 13 miles and 7 1/2 hours walking. We decided to go straight to the inn for dinner since we were cold and wet from the rain and didn't want to walk all the way up to the B&B only to walk back down again. Unfortunately, it was only 4 o'clock and they didn't start serving until 5 pm. Sooo, we got to walk up the 100 steps to the B&B, then back down the 100 steps to eat and back up the 100 steps to clean up and go to bed. Woohoo! Nothing like adding 300 stairs to the end of a long day.

Our table for dinner.

We had the whole room to ourselves through our meal

Today's Menu

Dessert menu

I had Royan's of Elgin Copper Dog sausage and Rumble Thumps. I had to ask what rumble thumps were. It's a mash of potatoes, cabbage and turnips. Boy, was it delicious!!!

Jo Anne had a burger, but not just your everyday burger. It was the Craigellachie 8 oz. beef burger.

We walked back in the rain, laid our gear out to dry, took showers and called it a day.
"He said to them, 'Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.'" I pray that as He has given our souls rest on this journey, He will give our bodies rest.

Today's stats: 14.5 miles, 35,888 steps
