Day 11 - The Slea Head Drive and Dingle Way Wslk

Warning: we were so awed by the Glory and magesty of His creation today that we took lots of pictures.

In case you missed it yesterday, this is the view from our room our first night in Ireland. The sun is trying to peek through the clouds and the wind and rain has stopped. We are rejoicing.

Our little rental car, and I do mean little. My bag fits in the hatch and Jo Anne's takes up the back seat.

Typical Irish breakfast

We leave this morning for the Slea Head loop drive around the Dingle Peninsula. The first pics are from the drive.

Flooding from the storm yesterday. Waiting to see if the car in front of us makes it through the water before we try it.

The Irish football star Paddy O'Shea won eight football titles for Kerry and then trained the Kerry players for many years.

Jo Anne wanted a picture of one of these Ireland endorsement signs.

This is a two room school house with 20 students and two teachers.

A late stone age ring fort. In 500 BC it was a Celtic chieftains headquarters, a stone and earth stockade filled with little stone houses. These survived because of superstitious beliefs that they were "fairy forts".

Our first glimpse of the Atlantic.

The tiny little road we're driving on.

Sun peeking thru the clouds

Curvy road

Water in the road.

Beehive huts.

The Blasket Islands

Narrow one-lane road

Dunmore Head, the westernmost point in Europe.

The scenery changes from one curve in the road to the next.

Clouds rolling in over Conor Pass. It was completely cloud covered when we went through the pass. Scary driving thru it but at least it was two lane.

"In His hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are His also." Psalms 95:4

We arrived at our B&B and this is the view. It would have been the view from our window but Jo Anne refuses to share a bed, so our room (the only one with two beds) looks out on a hedge.

Another view.

It's a lovely hedge but still....we could have been looking at the waves crashing on the shore.

After checking in, we drove to Castlegregory to walk a portion of the Dingle Way. The following pics are from the walk.

"He cuts out channels in the rocks, and His eye sees every precious thing." Job 28:10

We tried to figure out the story behind these horses on Dingle. They were just left to roam wild and were so beautiful.

Our trail is completely covered with water. Even the ducks have to swim across. There was another place that was even worse. We waded through a muddy, plowed, sheep poop filled pasture, crawled under a fence and over a gate to avoid the knee deep water. Hmmm....maybe wading through the water wasn't such a bad idea.

As the sun sets on another glorious day, we are reminded of His power and glory and sovereignty!

Today's stats: 8.36 miles and 20,375 steps.
